SME corporate category EU criteria

The EU definition of a corporate SME is set out in Annex I of Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014 and establishes the following categories of companies:

  • Microenterprise: Number of employees less than 10 and, Turnover less than or equal to 2 million or Total Assets less than or equal to 2 million
  • Small business: Number of employees less than 50 and, Turnover less than or equal to 10 million or Total Assets less than or equal to 10 million
  • Medium-sized company: Number of employees less than 250 and, Turnover less than or equal to 50 million or Total Assets less than or equal to 43 million
