Methodology

Geographical mobility flows by Autonomous Community

Thus, with respect to the group of salaried workers of an Autonomous Community i, the following concepts will be defined:

The periods of employment in the labor market between year ty (t-1) can be classified, in turn, taking into account the Autonomous Community of tax residence in the reference year and in the previous year. In this sense, for a particular Autonomous Community, and in the reference year t, the Labor Market of that community i may result from the following movements of salaried workers:

  • Community membership i (Pure Membership)

In year t the salaried worker is part of the Labor Market of Autonomous Community i and in year (t-1) he has also been part of the Labor Market of that same Autonomous Community i.

  • Inflow into Community i

Situation determined by the incorporation in year t of an employee to the Autonomous Community i from another community j, that is, that in year t -1 he is not part of the Labor Market of community i and is part of the Labor Market of community j, and in year t he ceases to be part of the Labor Market of community j and becomes part of the Labor Market of community i.

  • Outflow in Community i

This situation occurs when the employee in year (t-1) was part of the Labor Market of Autonomous Community i and in year t is part of the Labor Market of a different Autonomous Community j.

Taking into account the above definitions, the following relationships must be fulfilled:

The number of Input Flows counted throughout the national territory in year t must be equal to the number of Output Flows in year (t-1), that is, there must be a zero balance. It must be taken into account that an employee who in year t is part of the inflow of an Autonomous Community generates, in turn, an outflow from another Autonomous Community where he was an employee in year (t-1).

For each Autonomous Community, the number of salaried workers who are part of the Labor Market in year t must therefore be equal to the number of Registrations produced in year t in that Autonomous Community plus the number of Remaining in the Community in year t plus the number of Inflows in year t in that Autonomous Community (salaried workers who come from another community).

For each Autonomous Community, the number of salaried workers who are part of the Labor Market in year (t-1) must be equal to the number of Discharges that occurred in year t in that Autonomous Community plus the number of Remains in the Community that occurred in year t plus the number of Outflows in year t in that Autonomous Community.
