4.3.4. Electronic notifications

The obligation to receive electronic notifications becomes effective once their inclusion in the Obligatory Electronic Notification (NEO) system has been communicated to the taxpayer. In 2015, a total of 2,191,817 taxpayers are included in the NEO system.

In 2015, 11,234,103 notifications and electronic communications were issued, of which 10,960,877 correspond to taxpayers obliged to use the electronic system (NEO), with the remainder corresponding to citizens who have joined the system voluntarily.

This notification system represents a significant saving in the costs of tax management. The total saving since this system's implementation in 2011 is 78,657,019 euros.

Specifically, since 2011, 7,416,962 compulsory electronic communications have been issued with a saving of 3,708,481 euros and 37,474,269 compulsory electronic notifications with a saving of 74,948,538 euros.
