2018 Report

4.1.6. Civic-Tax Education Programme

During 2018, the Tax-Civic Education Program developed by the Tax Agency since 2003 was relaunched. In collaboration with the educational community, various activities were carried out for children and teenagers, to promote tax awareness among future taxpayers, so that they assume their tax responsibility as one of the values in which a democratic society is organised. All the activities in this field were carried out by staff of the Tax Agency who participated voluntarily. In this tax year, the Delegations of the Tax Agency conducted the following activities:

  • Open days (visits to the Delegations) with the participation of nearly 12,554 students (Primary, ESO and Baccalaureate).

  • Visits to educational centres by Tax Agency staff, with the participation of more than 31,329 students.

  • Courses and talks have also been given at faculties and university schools, with the participation of 1,835 students.

These figures mean that the Tax Agency has reached 28.11% more school and university students in 2018 than the previous year, which reflects the boost given to the subject.

Another important milestone was the launch, in November 2017, of the European Tax Education Portal TAXEDU, in whose development the Tax Agency has participated very actively.

In addition, the national Civic-Tax Education writing competition has been resumed this year.
