Joint operation of the Tax Agency and the National Police

• Two marijuana plantations were seized and three people were arrested

• Technicians from the affected electricity company collaborated in the investigation since the homes were illegally connected to the electricity supply.

July 29, 2022.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Castellón and the National Police of Castellón have carried out a joint operation in the area of the San Agustín/San Marcos Group (Castellón) against networks dedicated to the illegal cultivation of marijuana. Two marijuana plantations have been raided and three people have been arrested. During the investigation, technicians from the affected electricity company collaborated, since the homes were illegally connected to the electricity supply.

The investigations began when it became known that marijuana was being grown and sold regularly in several houses belonging to the San Agustín Group (Castellón), just as happens in other drug dealing black spots in the country that end up being converted into 'marijuana greenhouses'.

Based on the asset study carried out by the Customs Surveillance Service in Castellón, it was found out that the suspects had been owners of a store 'grow-shop' selling seeds and accessories for marijuana plantations, which led to the conclusion that his technical knowledge of the subject was high.

Following the preliminary study, a large device was established with the aim of carrying out checks in several houses where there were indications that they were hiding crops.indoor' of marijuana and had an illegal connection to the electricity supply network.

As a result, two marijuana plantations in two different homes that were illegally connected to the electricity supply have been dismantled, resulting in three people being arrested for crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

The owners of these 'green houses' obtained the electricity supply to maintain the crops'indoor' through illegal connections to the connection, with the consequent fraud to the company. In addition, by obtaining the electricity needed for air conditioning units, fans, ballasts, etc. without any cost, illegal activity was more profitable.

In addition to investigative officers from the National Police and the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Castellón, officers from the Air Service of the Valencia Police Headquarters also participated in the operation.
