The Customs Surveillance Service of the Spanish Tax Agency, in collaboration with officers from the Canary Islands Police Force, has dismantled a criminal group dedicated to drug trafficking in the municipality of La Orotava, on the island of Tenerife. The operation culminated in the arrest of seven people, the simultaneous execution of five house search warrants, and the seizure of nearly €300,000 in cash.

During the searches, cocaine and heroin were found, much of which was already packaged for immediate sale. Also seized were the necessary tools for processing and subsequent distribution of the substances, including scales and containers designed for dosing. The officers in charge of the searches also found a cache of firearms, such as shotguns and a revolver, along with a taser-type electric device.

The investigation, carried out by Customs Surveillance and directed by the Instruction Section of Plaza 4 of the Court of First Instance of La Orotava and the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the support of the General Corps of the Canary Police, began several months ago.

This procedure allowed the gathering of the necessary evidence regarding the commission of the investigated criminal acts, culminating in the simultaneous execution of the house searches and the arrest of the main individuals involved. The significant amount of cash seized, along with the narcotics and weapons located, highlights the importance of the criminal activity under investigation.

The detainees were placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, which ordered the immediate provisional imprisonment of four of them. The investigation remains open.
