August 20, 2026. The Tax Agency, in a joint operation with the Civil Guard, seized 63,890 euros in cash that were hidden in the checked luggage of two passengers at Palma airport.

The events took place after the landing of two Spanish citizens in Palma from the Dominican Republic, with transit through Madrid. After collecting their luggage, they began a hurried walk with the intention of quickly leaving the airport facilities.

Due to their suspicious behavior, Customs officials and Civil Guard agents proceeded to intercept the two travelers as they tried to leave the terminal. When questioned, they stated that they had nothing to declare, displaying a nervous and evasive attitude, so they were taken to Customs facilities to check their belongings.

During the inspection, an examination was carried out with the 'x-ray' machine and a total of 63,890 euros in bills of different values ​​were located, which were hidden among several of his belongings.

As a result, the investigators proceeded to seize the money and to draw up the corresponding complaint for non-compliance with the regulations on the prevention of money laundering and movements of means of payment.
