• The arrested man landed after a flight from the peninsula, and his behavior at the checkpoint aroused the suspicions of the officers.

August 21, 2026. The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency, in an operation coordinated with agents of the Civil Guard, arrested a 25-year-old individual who was carrying more than three kilos of hashish in his luggage.

The operation, under the functional dependence of the Customs and Special Taxes Administration, was carried out upon the arrival of a flight from the Peninsula, during the controls carried out by the Civil Guard in its role as State Fiscal Guard.

The passenger's behavior during the check prompted the officers to identify him and conduct a thorough inspection of his luggage. During the search, they located several packages containing a plant substance, as well as other items related to the transport and concealment of the substance, all inside a suitcase.

Subsequently, analysis of the seized substance confirmed that it was hashish, weighing more than three kilograms, the trade and introduction of which into Spain is prohibited. Therefore, the finding underscores the seriousness of the crime and the potential impact on public health.

This intervention exemplifies the effectiveness of the preventive measures implemented by the Civil Guard and the Tax Agency in airport areas, designed to detect and prevent both tax and criminal offenses.

As a result of this coordinated action, the individual was arrested and faces charges for a crime against public health in the form of drug trafficking. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Telde Court of Instruction, which ordered his imprisonment.
