Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and agents of the National Police have seized, in a logistics warehouse in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), 80,000 sports kits, 1,500 pairs of sneakers from well-known brands, and more than 500 handbags and more than 1,300 high-end watches, among other items, all of them counterfeit and ready for distribution on the illicit market. The merchandise had arrived in Spain via postal packages from Germany and its approximate value would be eight million euros.

The operation began on July 6 and continued over the following weeks, during which physical inspections were carried out on the parcels that had arrived at the warehouse in Miranda de Ebro.

When analyzing the merchandise, the researchers detected two very different types of products. On the one hand, goods that imitated the original products in detail, but with a relative quality in the materials; And, on the other hand, products with excellent manufacturing were also found, especially watches. The merchandise was intended for both physical and online trade.

The researchers implemented sophisticated tracking and location mechanisms that allowed them to detect shipments containing counterfeit goods more accurately and quickly. These advanced systems significantly facilitated the work of the specialized units.

The coordination between police forces, their respective central services, logistics operators, and counterfeit brands has been fundamental in the development of the operation that has taken place in Miranda de Ebro.
