• During the raids and searches, investigators caught several of those involved cutting the plants for their imminent transfer, in an operation that has neutralized 21 illegal electrical connections

July 24, 2026. Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency, the Civil Guard and the National Police, within the framework of the joint macro-operation 'Italica182 Ulises'/'Sudario'/'Aquiles', have dismantled 24 marijuana plantations and arrested 25 people and investigated four others in Palmar de Troya (Seville).

The operation began last May, after a disproportionate and irregular energy consumption was detected in different locations in El Palmar de Troya.

Given the complexity of the operation and the high number of objectives, a multidisciplinary team was formed, comprised of specialized units from the three institutions. The investigation allowed police officers to overcome the strong security and concealment measures that those responsible maintained over the infrastructure, managing to accurately locate the illicit production centers and establish the identities of the people in charge of their maintenance.

To this end, a large operation was deployed that simultaneously carried out 16 raids and searches on homes in the Seville town. During the course of the exploitation phase, the operatives managed to dismantle a total of 24 marijuana plantations, seizing 2,200 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, as well as a sophisticated system intended for their cultivation.

In addition, approximately 70 kilos of buds already processed and prepared for sale were seized, along with more than 50,000 euros in cash and a firearm, specifically a twelve-gauge shotgun.

During the operation, the close collaboration of the electric company was ensured, whose technicians carried out the safe disconnection of twenty-one clandestine connections to the network. These types of irregular manipulations pose a risk of fires, structural overloads, and supply disruptions.

As a final result of the operation, the investigation has resulted in the arrest of 25 people and the investigation of four other individuals for their alleged involvement in the criminal acts. All those involved, along with the seized narcotic substance, the capital, the weapon and the seized effects, have been placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority, without ruling out future actions.

The operational phase of the operation involved the operational units of Córdoba and Seville of Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency, the Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit (UDAIFF) of the Civil Guard of the Port of Seville, the Local Operational Group of the Judicial Police of the National Police of Écija (Seville), the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of the Civil Guard of the Command of Seville and USECIC/GRS of the Command of the Civil Guard of Seville as well as the UPR of the National Police of Seville, with the collaboration of the electric company.

The success of this operation confirms a course of action that has recent major precedents in the province. Thus, the operation bears a great operational similarity to the recent operation carried out in the town of Marinaleda, which also involved a large deployment of resources and concluded with a high number of house searches and multiple arrests in a single day.

Police institutions warn that, should similar widespread irregularities be detected in other municipalities, operations of the same force and magnitude will continue to be carried out in the future, driven by the judicial authorities.
