October 5, 2026. Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency, together with agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Fiscal and Borders Section of the Tenerife South airport, have arrested one person and investigated another, accused of a drug trafficking offense after being caught traveling with marijuana in their luggage.
The operation took place when, upon the arrival of a flight at Tenerife South Airport, investigators interviewed one of the passengers who raised suspicions due to his nervousness and the inconsistency in some of his answers.
Given the attitude shown by this person, the agents decided to check his luggage, where they found five vacuum-sealed packages with marijuana buds, as well as many small bags of gummies and cannabis edibles.
The officers proceeded to arrest the accused and began an investigation to see if there might be more people involved. Following the investigations, the researchers identified another passenger from the same flight who was also believed to be connected to the events.
The detainee, along with the proceedings and seized substances, has been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
