October 7, 2026. The Risk Analysis Unit (ULAR), made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and Civil Guards from the Fiscal and Border Company of the port of Algeciras, has seized 50 kilos of cocaine and arrested three people in an operation carried out at the facilities of the port of Algeciras.
The operation began when members of the Civil Guard in Algeciras detected the suspicious presence of a jet ski in the vicinity of a container ship that was carrying out loading operations.
A coordinated monitoring system was immediately established between ULAR and the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, which allowed them to verify how the jet ski, occupied by three people, approached the dock where the ship was moored. Two of them entered the container ship wearing clothes similar to those used by port workers, apparently intending to go unnoticed.
At this point, the agents decided to proceed to intercept the suspects and, subsequently, Customs Surveillance officials and Civil Guard agents carried out an inspection of the ship which culminated in the discovery of two backpacks that had been taken out of a maritime container and subsequently hidden by the suspects upon detecting the presence of the agents. Inside, numerous packages of a substance that turned out to be cocaine were found.
Meanwhile, a vessel from the Provincial Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Algeciras intercepted the third person involved, who was piloting the jet ski used to transport the other two individuals to the vicinity of the ship, and it was also verified that said vessel had been stolen in La Línea de la Concepción a few hours earlier.
Once the seized substance was analyzed, it was verified that it consisted of 50 packages of cocaine with a total weight of 50 kilos, whose value on the illicit market would exceed 1.5 million euros.
The three detainees, along with the proceedings and the seized items, were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which ordered their imprisonment.
