• The merchandise, with an estimated value of more than 25,000 euros, was found inside the luggage of an individual traveling on a regular bus from Andorra.

September 18, 2026. Tax Agency officials and Civil Guard officers, as part of a tax control carried out at the Farga de Moles Customs (Lleida), proceeded on September 13 to the intervention of 1,494 contraband cigars of different brands that were inside a regular line bus in which a passenger was traveling who intended to introduce the merchandise into national territory without declaring it.

The intervention took place at about 5:00 p.m., when a regular line bus, coming from Andorra, entered the Farga de Moles Customs.

Once parked in the designated space, the officers asked the driver and the passengers if they were transporting any type of merchandise subject to declaration, all of whom stated that they were not.

After an inspection of the bus, 1,494 cigars of various brands, valued at more than 25,000 euros, were found inside the luggage.

Once the passengers were asked about the origin of the items, one of the occupants (a 37-year-old male) stated that the material was his property and that he had acquired it in Andorra.

Once the seized merchandise was verified at the Tax Agency premises, proceedings were initiated for a smuggling offense. The cigars were handed over to the Fiscal Guard for placement at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.

This action falls within the powers entrusted to the Tax Agency, as well as the Civil Guard in its Fiscal Protection functions, in coordination with the Customs and Excise Administrator of the AEAT, developed in the field of customs control for the prevention and prosecution of smuggling, drug trafficking, fraud and other fiscal offenses and crimes.
