• Two British citizens were arrested, one at a roadside checkpoint from which he tried to flee in a vehicle carrying 17 kilos of cocaine hidden in a 'stash', and another at a house where the network stored the drugs.

September 22, 2026. Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency have dismantled a criminal group in Alicante dedicated to transporting cocaine from Spain to the United Kingdom. Two British citizens have been arrested in the operation.

Following the investigation carried out by the smuggling section of the Alicante Operational Unit of Customs Surveillance, the exploitation phase of the operation began with the interception at a road checkpoint of a British citizen who tried to flee in the van he was driving. After a chase, the officers stopped the vehicle, in which they found 17 kilos of cocaine hidden in a 'stash'. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.

The following day, two raids were carried out on properties located in the towns of Finestrat and Elche, with the collaboration of the Local Police of Finestrat and Benidorm.

As a result of the searches, the agents seized more than 67 kilos of cocaine, a marijuana plantation and one kilo of marijuana buds packaged in vacuum bags and prepared for sale and distribution.

Also seized were two vehicles that had been modified by installing hidden compartments or 'stashes', intended for the transport and concealment of narcotics, 4,000 euros in cash, a set of brass knuckles, an extendable baton and a bladed weapon, as well as various luxury items (handbags, watches, jewelry...).

The two detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, which ordered their provisional imprisonment. The operation is still ongoing and further arrests are not ruled out.
