If your stay in the Canary Islands is going to exceed 6 months, you must present a definitive import declaration or request authorization from the Temporary Import Regime.
If you come from a country not belonging to the European Union (EU), the most appropriate customs regime would be temporary import. This regime is subject to authorisation. A simplified procedure is available in which you can request this authorisation in the customs declaration, and it being understood as granted with the release of the goods.
To use this procedure you can submit your request through the procedures Authorization of the use of temporary importation, end-use, inward processing or passive processing in situations in which art. 163 of the Delegated Regulation found on this same page or make an oral declaration before the customs office of entry by the owner of the vehicle or his representative, and customs may require that it be made in writing.
Do not forget that the maximum period of stay in this regime in the customs territory of the EU will be six months.
