Specific measures for the monitoring and traceability of tobacco (Annex 39)

The United Kingdom will take the following measures in relation to Gibraltar:

  • Quarterly information exchange

  • Cooperation in the fight against smuggling

  • Establishment of a traceability system equivalent to that of the EU from the following dates:

    • Cigarettes and rolling tobacco: since the entry into force of the Agreement

    • Other tobacco products: at 24 months

The UK and the EU are obliged to provide information upon request from the other party as soon as possible and, in any event, within 24 hours of the request.

  • Application of EU-like requirements regarding warnings incorporated into products

  • Ban on oral tobacco and distance selling

  • Destruction of seized tobacco
