Ro-Ro traffic
Find out about the peculiarities of maritime traffic with roll-on/roll-off cargo, e.g. lorries.
The agility and speed that should characterise ro-ro traffic can only be guaranteed by automated processing of import and export processes.
To this end, operators and customs representatives are reminded that it is necessary to:
- Indicate in the import/export customs declaration:
- Box 19: code 1 (container)
- Box 31: registration number of the trailer/truck in the container section.
- Include the registration number in the application to the Border Inspection Services and, where applicable, in the location reports.
- Use the import pre-DUA as much as possible, requesting clearance prior to activating the DSDT. Box 40 of the pre-DUA must include, when available, the DSDT item. This item can be consulted through the AEAT Electronic Office, by selecting the “Query by containers” option in the procedures on this same page.
Furthermore, the peculiarities and differences in the computer systems of the ports of Bilbao, Santander and Algeciras make it necessary to issue specific instructions for ro-ro traffic in each of them, so operators who use or participate in this type of traffic are recommended to consult these instructions.
