Rights of Applications for Intervention of Union Trademarks

On December 1st, the amendment to Commission Implementing Regulation 1352/2013 of 4 December 2013, laying down the forms provided for in Regulation (EU) No 608/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the monitoring by customs authorities of compliance with intellectual property rights, will enter into force.

Each time the operator performs a modify or request an extension of your applications, you must update the types of rights applicable in accordance with the regulations in force on the date of the modification.

The main changes introduced affect boxes 5 and 6 of the application form for intervention of intellectual property rights, as shown below:

  • Type of right to which the application refers:

CDR becomes REUD (Registered European Union design)

CDU becomes UEUD (Unregistered European Union design)

CGIP becomes EGIP (Geographical indication for agricultural products)

CGIW becomes EGIW (Geographical indication for wine)

CGIS becomes EGIS (Geographical indication for spirit drinks)

CGIL becomes EGIL (Geographical indication as listed in Agreements between the Union and third countries)

CGIA disappears and becomes EGIP category (Geographical indication for aromatized drinks based on wine products)

CIGI is a new right created by the introduction of this right in another EU Regulation (Geographical indication for craft and industrial products).
