Definition of Union Transit
The Union transit procedure is applicable to customs transit operations between EU Member States (and Andorra and San Marino) and is generally used to cover the movement of non-EU goods without being subject to customs duties and other charges which may be applicable (external transit procedure) and the movement of EU goods which, between their point of departure and their point of destination in the EU, have to pass through the territory of a third country (internal transit procedure).
