IX.6.1. Measures prior to the investigation procedure

Where, upon expiry of the time limit within which the goods must be presented at the customs office of destination or exit, the customs office of departure or entry has not received the "Notice of Arrival" message (IE006), the competent authorities shall use the "Request for status information" message (IE904) in order to check whether the goods correspond to that status in the NCTS in the Member State of destination or exit. The destination computer system will automatically assess the status of the goods and respond by sending the message "Response on status" (IE905). For further information, see Part VII.2.5.
