Part VII. Completion of the transit regime and investigation procedure

Part VII describes the completion of the transit regime and the investigation procedure.

Section VII.1 sets out the general principles and legislation related to the completion of the transit regime and the investigation procedure.

Section VII.2 deals with the completion of the transit regime and the request for information on the situation.

Section VII.3 addresses the investigation procedure.

Section VII.4 describes the business continuity procedure.

Section VII.5 focuses on ex post control procedures.

Section VII.6 is reserved for specific national instructions.

Section VII.7 is reserved for the exclusive use of the customs administration.

Section VII.8 includes the annexes.

The following terms are used:

  • ″transit regime″: customs procedure under which goods are transported from one point to another under customs supervision, in accordance with Union legislation and the Convention on a common transit procedure.
  • ″transit operation″: movement of goods transported under the transit regime from a customs office of departure to a customs office of destination.
  • ″business continuity procedure″: Situations where the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS), the computer system used by the scheme holders or the electronic connection between the computer system used by the scheme holders and the NCTS are temporarily unavailable at the time of the start of the transit operation.
  • ″simplified procedures″: simplified transit regimes specific to certain modes of transport.
