Classification of goods. TARIC
How to find out the exact amount of import duties and VAT. Export aid and trade policy applicable to goods
Allocation of tariff code to the goods
Why should a good that is imported or exported be classified under a tariff heading?
The classification in a code of a given good shall be according to the nomenclature annexed to the International Convention on the Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) or to the Common Customs Tariff (CCT) of the European Union. This code is made up of groups of numbers: six digits ( SA ), eight (Combined Nomenclature), ten ( TARIC ) or more (other nomenclatures).
Correct tariff classification allows, among other things:
- Know the exact amount of customs duties and VAT on import. Which shall be applicable to the imported goods.
- Know exactly what aid from the CAP or other types of aid will be available for exports.
- Know all the requirements necessary to import or export the goods, e.g. import certificates, health certificates, import licence, etc.
- Contribute to the accuracy of statistics on import and export trade transactions.
