Composition and form of entry
At present, the personnel comprising the Customs Surveillance staff form part of the following Departments:
- Corps of Agents of the Customs Surveillance Service, specializing in Investigation and Maritime.
- Executive Body of the Customs Surveillance Service, specialties of Investigation, Navigation, Propulsion and Communications.
- Senior Customs Surveillance Corps, specialising in Investigation, Navigation, Propulsion and Communications,
All personnel are considered AGENT OF THE AUTHORITY in the performance of their duties (Royal Decree 319/1982, of February 12). The professional identification card for active Customs Surveillance officers, as well as the cardholder wallet, is stipulated in the 18 July 2008 Resolution for the General Spanish Tax Administration Directorate The Customs and Excise Duties Department's emblem and the words CUSTOMS, both engraved on a golden "starbust effect" badge, are located in the lower section of the wallet. This professional card is classified as a Type A Firearms License for its holder.
The way to become a Customs Surveillance officer is through a selection process that is part of the State Public Employment Offer and that, depending on the Corps you wish to apply for, requires a specific qualification.
