Macintosh - Import copy of certificate in Mozilla Firefox
If the operating system is Macintosh and the browser Mozilla Firefox , it is necessary that the electronic certificate is installed in the certificate store of this browser.
If you also want to use it in other browsers (Safari or Google Chrome) you will also have to import it in "Keychain Access".
Importing the certificate into Firefox storage
In order to import a certificate into Mozilla Firefox, it is necessary that the copy has been made with a password, since a "backup password" is always requested to install it in this browser.
Go to "Firefox", "Preferences", or the three horizontal stripes icon in the top right corner of the browser, "Preferences".
Under "Privacy and Security", "Security", "Certificates" click on the button "View certificates".
In the tab "Your certificates" click on the button "Import...".Valid file extensions for electronic certificates are .pfx and .p12.Select the file from the location where it is saved and click the "Open" button.
The browser may ask you to enter the master password (this is the password for the Mozilla Firefox browser's certificate store and is not set by default);if you decide to set it, please note that forgetting to do so may result in the loss of the certificate). If there is none established you can leave it blank, but if one is already established you will have to enter it in order to continue with the import of the certificate. If no message appears about the master password, go ahead.
In the next window, enter the password you entered to encrypt the backup and click "OK".
If everything is correct you will see a message reading 'The files have been restored successfully...'.
Importing in "Keychain Access"
To use the electronic certificate from other browsers (Safari or Google Chrome) the certificate must be installed in the Keychain Access.Start the system application 'Keychain Access' from 'Finder', 'Applications', 'Utilities'.
Go to "Login", "My certificates" and check if your personal certificate appears in this store.
If not, click on "File", "Import items" or "Import items" depending on the version.
Select the .p12 or .pfx file with the backup copy of the electronic certificate and click on "Open".It may be necessary to provide the password that was set when exporting the certificate.
If the import was successful, the certificate will appear under 'Keychain Access'.
