I.4.1.3. New Computerized Transit System (NCTS)

The NCTS is a common EU IT tool for managing and monitoring the transit system.

Its main objective is to increase the agility, efficiency, effectiveness, and security of transit procedures, while preventing and detecting fraud.

As a general rule, the NCTS is compulsory for Union transit (both external and internal) and for the common transit system.

Exceptions

  • simplifications relating to certain modes of transport,

  • the business continuity procedure,

  • travelers who can use a paper declaration in certain situations.
